After a wave of positive reviews and crazy fanboy anticipation, Motorola's Droid X officially hit stores on July 15. In what is now typical hot-smartphone-release fashion, stores are selling out, online inventory is low, and the twittersphere is filling up with "ooh i got my Droid X and I luuuuv it" tweets.
That's all gravy, but you know what unlockedGPHONE is about … when will we start seeing unlocked Droid X's in the aftermarket? UPDATE: As of July 21, X's are trickling onto the aftermarket. We're aware of the scuttlebut on the internets about Motorola permanently bricking the phone if you attempt to unlock the Droid X, but the intrepid reporters at engadget.com dispelled those rumors yesterday. Like them, we're confident that the 'next generation of does' will be successfully rooted by some gifted Android developer.
We just hope it's soon.
